How StretchWare Works

Stretching Reminders

StretchWare reminds you to stretch periodically by:

  • a sound
(CLICK TO PLAY TIBETAN BELL SOUND)
  • a flashing icon
  • and/or a dialog box window

You can choose any, all, or no methods of notification. If you do not set any preferences, the default settings will remind you to stretch every 2 hours with a Tibetan bell sound and a flashing icon.

The Flashing Icon

Once you have installed StretchWare, there will be a small icon on your screen (in Windows in the task bar, on a Mac in the menu bar). The icon is “station central” for StretchWare. Its functions:

  • it will flash when it's time to stretch.

  • At any time you can click on it to bring a stretching routine on-screen.

  • It has the following pop-up menu, which gives you a choice of all the options listed.

A Look at StretchWare’s Preferences

There are four aspects of preferences:

  • Activation
  • Notification
  • Sequence of Routines
  • Hot Keys

Activation

There are 3 choices as to what triggers the reminder:

  • Set regular intervals: allows you to choose to be reminded at regular intervals, from several minutes to 4 hours
  • Set clock: allows you to select specific times of the day to be reminded (see below)
  • Set number of keystrokes/mouseclicks: allows you to be reminded after any combination of keystrokes and/or mouseclicks

Notification

You can choose how you want to be notified when it’s time to stretch, as indicated in this window:

Sequence of Routines

This allows you to choose the order in which the stretching routines will appear throughout the day. You transfer the desired routines from left to right, and you can then move the routines around in the right hand box to get the desired order. Click for a larger image.

Hot Keys

This allows you to set a combination of keys that you can use at any time to bring a stretching routine on-screen.
